3 things you may not know about Full Moon energy
You’ve seen the posts sprouting salt baths, crystals, journaling prompts, howling into the night like a Pinterest approved wolf goddess (all highly recommended, but definitely not essential), this is NOT that..
While I do love me a good ritual (hell yes to a candlelit altar and a strong intention), I’ve also come to learn this:
Full moon energy isn’t just aesthetic.
It’s a spotlight.
A pressure cooker.
A truth serum wrapped in welcoming moonlight.
But let’s cut through the crap & talk about what’s really going on under this magical sky.
Here are 3 things no one may have told you about full moon energy & how you can work with it, instead of just dancing around it in your best poncho (I do love a good poncho dance though), I digress…
๐ 1. It’s not a release, it’s an amplifier
I know, I know.
Every second post says “Release what no longer serves you” like it’s some kind of magical unsubscribe button.
But I’m sorry to tell you.. The full moon doesn’t just release energy. It amplifies it.
It basically turns up the volume on whatever’s been brewing.. ie emotions, tension, clarity, chaos, grief, desire.
If you’ve been spiritually bypassing your own shadow or pushing stuff down… the full moon will drag that shit into the spotlight like a dance mum running on 4 coffees! (Love you dance mums, you’re the real GOATs) ๐ฅฐ
Try this grounded ritual idea:
Instead of trying to force a release, try revealing it instead.
Light a candle.
Sit down.
Ask yourself:
“What part of me needs to be seen tonight?”
Journal on it, if that’s your thing.
Speak it into a voice memo.
Cry. Rage. Laugh.
Don’t look at how to fix it or filter it.
Just witness it, in its sacred form.
๐ 2. Your nervous system might be screaming (which is totally normal btw..)
It does not mean you’re “too sensitive.”
Or you’re failing at moon magic.
You’re just a cosmic, emotional, deeply sensing human & full moons stir your inner tides, the same as they affect the oceans!
Sleep gets weird.
Emotions spike.
Your nervous system hums like a power line.
You might feel floaty, anxious, wired & strung out.
It doesn’t mean something’s wrong.
It means something’s alive!
Try this grounded ritual idea:
Care for your nervous system first.
Think less ritual, more regulation.
Warm herbal tea.
Heavy blanket.
Bare feet on the ground - grass, soil, sand etc..
Create a soft moon altar if you can. Keep it simple: feathers, stones, photos of your people.
Say to yourself (aloud if you can):
“Where in my body do I feel safe. I am safe to feel what is here.”
Repeat.. & again & again.
๐ 3. She doesn’t want you perfect, she wants you honest (the hardest one IMO)
The full moon doesn’t care about your manifestation list or if your affirmations are ‘high vibe’.
She’s not looking at you & rating your performance. She’s asking you for presence.
She wants your voice cracked.
Your trembling truth.
Your messy, undone, fully human self.
This isn’t about polishing your soul until it glows.
It’s about letting the moonlight kiss the parts of you that you usually hide.
Try this grounded ritual idea:
If you can do nothing else, just sit with her.
No oils. No journal. No pressure.
Go outside.
Close your eyes.
Breathe.
Let her shine down on you, cloaking you in strength.
Say the thing or things, you’re scared to say.
Let her hold it.
That’s the real magic.
